About Abbotsford Agrifair

Our History

Agrifair began in 1909, one year after the arrival of the British Columbia Electric Railway (BCER), which helped drive rapid growth in the Village of Abbotsford. From early fairground attractions to today’s midway rides, livestock competitions, and agricultural showcases, the fair has continued to evolve alongside our community.

More than a century later, Agrifair remains proud to be known as the best little country fair — made possible through the continued support of our community.

Who We Are

Abbotsford Agrifair is a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization governed by a volunteer board of ten directors and supported by one full-time staff member. Each director contributes approximately 40 hours annually attending meetings, along with up to 200 additional hours dedicated to planning, organizing, building partnerships, and preparing for opening day. Agrifair is built on volunteer leadership, collaboration, and community commitment.

Community Support

Agrifair is made possible through the generous support of the City of Abbotsford, BC Community Gaming, our sponsors, and our volunteers. Sponsor and community support form the foundation of our financial sustainability and allow us to deliver a three-day event that connects urban and rural communities through shared experiences and education.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Promoting and educating the public about the importance of agriculture
  • Showcasing local talent across diverse disciplines
  • Partnering with local schools to provide meaningful student volunteer opportunities
  • Involving as many members of the Abbotsford community as possible

Our Impact

Agrifair plays an integral role in enriching family life within our diverse and inclusive community. We honour our agricultural roots while embracing innovation, creating experiences that celebrate our past and invest in our future.
